It does look stunning, Bill. Again, this is the age of digital downloads. I'm sure many here will purchase for "sentimental" value (I am among those fans). But, how many really listen to their music via vinyl disc in this day and age? It is a beautiful momentum, but, is in fact, a relic of time gone by. My only criticism is that this great CD is not being promoted the way it should to the general public, who should be purchasing this amazing collection of songs en masse! Efforts should have been made, Bill, to promote this CD, in all its greatness, to a wider public, instead of depreciating its range of availability to a limited "fans only" audience. It's a collection that deserves to be heard. It certainly will NOT be by releasing it (and promoting it) as a "collector's item". That said..it does look beautiful, and I hope it does reach the "store" one of these days for those who aren't fortunate to attend a Melanie concert. We all want Melanie to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Releasing this incredible collection(in my humble opinion, her finest) through vinyl, is not the most advantageous avenue. Efforts would well be made to get this amazing CD out to an aggregate that has neither heard of Melanie, or didn't realize she is still recording. I don't believe this is being done. Many artists of Melanie's generation (Carole King, is one who comes to mind, who engaged Hear Music through Starbucks to release her music), have accomplished this so successfully. Why isn't Melanie being handled the way she deserves? I do not mean to offend, just wanted to make a point.

...Oh, but it is no "relic of time gone", Paul! ...Vinyl-records are the new rage! -And- It will be reaching the 'Store' much, much, much sooner than you think...Maybe even just a few hours from now!?!?!

The "Ever Since" vinyl does appear stunning,Bill, I must say, and Kudos to your efforts!
I haven't been in many homes lately hosting turntables, but I am glad to hear they are once again the "rage". I generally see young people with Ipods and Iphones, etc. who stream their music, but glad to hear turntables have made this huge comeback. Funny, I was in Best Buy today, and when I inquired about purchasing a turntable for vinyl, all I got was snickers (no, not the candy bar). Guess they aren't "in" on it. I do miss vinyl personally, but I also miss my old corded dial-up telephone. Perhaps that will become the rage again soon too! LOL.
Again, not attempting negativity. I hope to own the vinyl, but I will continue to primarily listen to my music the way most do this century. smile I happen to think that "Ever Since You Never Heard Of Me" is Melanie's greatest accomplishment in quite some time, and, I have to repeat, I wish the powers-that-be (whomever they are) would put energy into getting this cd or streaming out to the masses (who, believe me, are NOT going to purchase it on vinyl).

1. Melanie wanted a grape vinyl LP and made one, a personal dream come true, good for you Melanie and I LOVE YOUR VINYL LP!

2. Great efforts are being made to get it in the "store", thank you Bill!

3. You can easily get a turntable by googling "Numark turntables." These are sold here in my little town in the music store. The display walls of the music store are full of NEW VINYL LPs which have been making a big comeback for the last FEW years of THIS century.

4. Melanie can promote her music any way she wants. Somehow I don't see her making deals with Starbucks. She is writing and singing new songs instead. I would rather hear Falling Awake, Love Doesn't Have to Hurt, Your Gonna Miss Me recorded on an new CD (or VINYL). That is more important than letting Starbucks in on Brand New Key.

5. Ever Since You Never Heard of Me has been made availaible through: Itunes, the digital download, the CD and now the LP. I don't think it has to be promoted any longer. It being made available 4 ways proves it is great.

6. Can't we just BE HAPPY that Melanie has a new ALBUM?? It is something to CELEBRATE not criticize. We have a free market system. We can choose to buy something we WANT or we can choose not to buy a thing. We can use our ipods or we can watch the needle drop on a new LP.

7. Can we please not bring negativity to something that is not even for sale yet.

8. Please just be HAPPY that Melanie has a DREAM that came true.

I agree with all your points, eileen. I also think my points are valid as well. There is such a thing as "constructive criticism", however. I think it's great this vinyl is being released. You have mistaken my points regarding promotion as heavy critique. I had no idea it was a dream of Melanie's to have this purple vinyl release, but glad you brought it to my attention. I realize that this isn't a forum that entertains any kind of disagreement or critical discussion, no matter how loving and supportive it may be offered. I will try to refrain from doing so in the future.

Every one can think or feel the way they do - if someone wants to be critical I think s/he should be critical and express this in a loving way - which I think Paul has been doing and someone can feel the need to defend Melanie like Eileen is doing. And I love you both for it.

I think people should express themselves even if it is not a popular point of view and even if it is a popular point - like I know my opinions are always viewed as very popular, (smile)

To say I will not post anymore I find boring - this is my maybe not so popular opinion - this is our Forum, we don't have to agree on everything, but this is our Forum and we are Melanie's beautiful people and there is a thread .....
so respect and agree to disagree.

There is this purple album, the sound is beautiful and warm according to Eileen, Melanie writes in the liner notes that she always wanted a purple LP and she has it now.
I want the album and I don't care if there are 90 different versions, I want them all.

I think Melanie is working hard and let's just believe this hard work, this talent will pay off, let's hope that as many people possible will buy this fantastic album.

Paul has said time and time again how much he loves that album - the CD or the digital download - let's hope many more people will say this because it is.

Thanks Dia. I never meant to denigrate the "Purple LP" and wish to own it once available. It appears I am quite good at offending people. I am glad Eileen made me aware this was Melanie's wish to have this "Purple LP" released. I have nothing but respect for that. I do wish "Ever Since" was more widely promoted. I do not think simply having it "available" on Itunes or Amazon is enough. My nephew has his hometown band available on both as well, and he is far from the league or stature of Melanie. Almost anyone can have a CD listed there these days. It's the promotion of it that counts.

Paul, Melanie has interviews all over the place, don't you think that is good promotion?
Do you have suggestions how this could be promoted?
(thinking of Melanie's publicist who sais she is too old?)
Should she be on Ellen? (YES!)
How would that happen?

If you or anyone else has any idea share share share

Melanie should be interviewed in Billboard, Time, New York Times Weekend Arts, People, Rloling Stone if they could just get over their dislike of her. Wired. Spin. These interviews would go nationwide. It's wonderful that Melanie gets interviewed by local political and arts publications, but it would get to more people that Melanie is still alive and vital in national publications. It's like getting interviewed on a cable access show instead of interviewed on Letterman or The View or a Barbara Walters special.
Of course, I have no idea how to go about accomplishing any of this.

You are correct, Mike. I have friends who had no idea Melanie was even alive, no less still recording. Again, promoting new material is job a competent manager does. James Taylor/Carole King/Joni Mitchell/Laura Nyro...all people of Melanie's generation had that, and they are all in the Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame. I have emailed Jann Wenner about Melanie some time back. For those readers who have no idea who he is, Jann is the founder and publisher of Rolling Stone magazine, and in incredibly influential regarding the Rock's inductee's. You are correct, Mike, that Melanie burned bridges back in the day, but this is a new day, and Melanie is such a vibrant artist who is still creating amazing material! Again, I give Melanie credit. I think all those accolades do not mean much to her. Melanie certainly had (and possibly still does) the connections, but has chosen not to utilize them in a career-sense.
