Hello all, since I cannot start up a topic (under a new date and place) for a new concert, I would like to alert those who can.

Yesterday Ticketmaster send me an email "Don't miss Melanie" (I have listed her as a favourite among their artists), and upon opening the email I saw they were offering tickets for a concert I had no idea about before.

It is on Friday, March 30, in Blackwood (outside Philly on the NJ side) in a small theater. Tickets went on sale this morning (10 am EST) and I got REALLY good seats as I was right on time.

Why is that gig not listed here? Just like the B.B.King concert, which I saw actually for several months on Ticketmaster before it came on here. Obviously the venue is not losing time, they go online and sell tickets. Why are we not told about these concerts unless we are affiliated with Ticketmaster?

...I know it seems aggrevating, Albgardis, but often times venues will offer; promote and pre-sale, on what may only be a tentative gig.

It's never "official" until it appears here on Melanie's site!

P.S. About the tentative selling: if I am the only one buying tickets there, I assume the likelihood of cancellation is bigger than if interested fans (among us) are buying their tickets as well.

About the Sellersville gig:

I find the policy of reserving the good seats to members a bit unfortunate. Who is going to order tickets before that members' privilege will be lifted (40 days ahead of the concert)? I will certainly wait!

But that means for them that they don't have realistic figures yet. If other fans like me also wait with their ticket orders, the venue might get a false impression of lacking interest. That is not accurate, we are only waiting until the members' seats become available for us.

Albgardis I purchased my ticket for Sellersville in mid January and was shocked that the best seat in the center was already in row I. She said the ticket sales were good. I was thinking I was calling early and would be in the first couple of rows. I would rather be seeing Melanie from the center of a row so you can see her face. Sometimes you wait for VIP and end up at the end of a row looking sideways to see Melanie, seeing her profile. That was the case at Mexicali Live in October. I had a better seat than the people in the VIP section as I was looking directly at Melanie. Also when people wait to buy tickets and the venue thinks there is a lack of interest the show gets cancelled. The woman who I spoke to one the phone said I could call back to find out the status of the member's seating and get moved up (pay the difference) in the event member's seating becomes available to the general public. I would hate for you to wait and end up in row Z or worse no ticket at all. I also wish I knew about the 3/30 concert. I would have arranged my plane ticket to fit that in. I paid a fortune since it will be Easter time. So it looks like Sellersville and BB King for me. I will have to rent a car for Sellersville and the rooms the venue suggest seem pretty high. I may just drive the 98 miles back to where I am staying since I won't be able to sleep after seeing Melanie anyway!!

That's not good! I will need to book our room today, as good accomodations in that area are VERY sparse. If I wait too long, I will be forced to stay in Phildadelphia, which will be much more expensive.

Eileen, thanks for your thoughts, that is really helpful. I had no idea you could hold a ticket and later get an upgrade on it. I should try that too. Yes, that would be bad, if I ended up getting no tickets. I had not even thought of that.

It sucks that you can't change your flight reservations, I understand your frustration. The curse of booking early... While you pointed out the curse of waiting too long and maybe not get tickets in the end. So however you do things, there is always an option to screw things up...

Hubby and I were also in the Mexicali Concert last year in Teaneck (we were walking in 8 min late, remember that?), and since we were late (due to getting lost in NY to grab some food), we had to take the seats still available after everyone else had been seated. We ended up on the balcony, which was a very good choice. Great views onto the stage! Only malus was the open door to the outside next to us, and I wished I had brought my coat with me...
