Sir Johnny Dankworth, UK jazz musician, passed away on Saturdsay aged 82. As well as being esteemed musicians, he and his wife, Cleo Laine, created a music venue in the grounds of their own home for performsnce by all types of musician. The venue was The Stables at Wavendon, Buckinghamshire. Melanie's UK fans will be aware that she performed at the Stables on both her 2008 and 2009 UK tours.

Sir Johnny passed away on the day of the concert to celebrate the 40th anniversary of their venue. Cleo and her two children came from the hospital to perform along with a host of other stars. Only after the show did she announce his death.

I find such resilience and fortitude very moving and it must certainly be the ultimate example of 'The show must go on.'
