I am absolutely thrilled that Melanie is coming back to the Isle of Wight after her last appearance at this wonderful festival 40 years ago.

Is it true, is this definite, has this been confirmed? It's like a dream come true! Welcome back Melanie!

Eve thats what happened to me when someone from work brought in a local theatre programme- in there was melanie!!! I never ever dreamed i would ever see let alone meet the great lady i was named after....my dad nearly cried when i got him tickets for christmas...he had no clue she was still touring x

Wow, that must have felt really weird and then for you to have bought tickets for your dad - I really can understand how he must have felt.

I only saw Melanie once in 1972 in Manchester and always loved her music but as life moved on I never got the chance to see her again until I got bored at work one day and started to surf the net and discovered that Mel was truly alive and still singing. Then I had to carry on with this journey until I reached my destination which was the 'Turning Point' in Piermont NY in 2002 where Melanie was in concert over 3 nights. What a fantastic but quite scary decision that was to travel to the USA all alone to a place I had never heard of in search of my favourite singer. This turned out to be the best time of my life. Like so many other people I met Melanie, Peter & Beau and went to the after-show parties with them and other great people that I had met. It was just all so dream-like and a time which I could never have planned.

Since then I have seen Mel in concert at the Meltdown Festival, Queen Elizabeth Hall, London; Bridgewater Hall, Manchester; St Georges, Bristol and soon at the IOW Festival.

There, I have poured out my heart to you. I think it's really great how you are so young and have taken Melanie into your heart.

Hope I am in the right bit of the forum?

We are a Sheffield based image archive, and we are exhibiting my Father-in-Law's Photographs taken side and backstage at the 1970 Isle of Wight Music Festival.

Over 70 photos of greats such as Jimi Hendix, The Who, Hawkwind, Leoonard Cohen and. of course, Melanie.

We have a lovely picture of Melanie, in fact and
will be exhibiting it along with over 50 other images on the Isle of wight from June till September this year to coincide with the 40th anniversary festival, at the Dimbola Lodge on the west of the Island in Freshwater, from 11th June till 12th September.

Melanie on the radio! Not sure if this has been highlighted anywhere else, so apologies if it has, BUT for us UK folks, if you aren't aware, Melanie is featured in an interview on the Radcliffe and Maconie Radio 2 evening show on Tuesday 30th of March. This is because of the IOW concert. Enjoy!
