Hi everybody!!
It is Monday early evening and I am still too tired to even begin to write my review!! So here is a little bit. All I can say is I agree with Jason. It WAS GREAT!! It was sort of like time travel. Melanie went from very old songs, to new songs, back to old songs, back to new songs and yet the flow of it all just fit perfectly. And her voice was amazing!! The one thing I remembered from all the other Largo Cultural Center concerts is that they start on time and I was a little worried but got there at 7:40 for 8:00 PM show. You could see Peter in the lobby and I said it is going to start on time. We had good seats, 3rd row center. Well Beau started and it was so funny. He did his first song and when it was finished he asked us if we would mind if he blew his nose. A little fruit fly went up it and then he mentioned how it tasted. It was very funny and he politely turned around and blew his nose. He did 5 songs. One was a song where we were to guess the name and the first one to get it right would get one of Melanie's lucky guitar picks. You could hear Melanie yell NO from behind the curtain. After all they are her lucky picks and I guess he didn't ask her. Well nobody guessed the song and he had to give us a hint and one girl sort of got it and Beau threw the pick and who knows where it went. He was very excited and talking fast. You could hear Melanie again from behind the curtain telling him SPEAK SLOWLY and he starting laughing saying my mom is telling me to SPEAK SLOWLY and he just kept on going fast. Anyway he was amazing, I think he played a full 30 minutes. More and more to follow!! I have to write it down before I can type it and there is a lot to say. But I wanted to share the fruit fly in the nose! And he has a lot of new toys!

ooohhhhh i can't wait to see beau with his new toys in the u.k...i promise though no fruit flies lol xxx

thanks. its probably as close as ill ever get to seeing the woman of my dreams. i still have a christmas card from melanie post marked december 21 1972 and still never made it to one of her concerts

Concert review part two:
First I am curious Eddie Carter if the Christmas card you received postmarked 12/21/72 is the same one as I got from Melanie. Was it the one that was sent to the original Melanie fan club members?? The one when she was UNICEF Ambassador? I think it has an elephant on the front and Merry Christmas written in several different languages???
Anyway here we go with the review:
Melanie joins Beau on the stage. Everyone goes crazy. She looks absolutely beautiful. She is dressed in an all black dress and a beautiful Florida tan. She asks the audience if we can tell she is back living in Florida and mentions her tan. The audience is very happy! When I saw her in January at Ruth Eckerd Hall she mentioned being back "home" but didn't say she actually made the move. That is the funny thing about FL. People come for the winter and say they are home. Then they leave to go back up north and say they are going home. Those are the people we refer to as snowbirds. But Melanie confirms it. I am EXTREMELY HAPPY!! Anyway the first song is I'm Back in Town and we go crazy. Next is Beautiful People. Before they start it Melanie refers to Beau's instrument as the Viola Guitar. It is absolutely beautiful and adds a whole new twist to the song. I didn't write down anything so the playlist will be out of order and probably incomplete. So in no order here are some songs: Brand New Key with short version of the story, Look What They Done to My Song Ma with short version of the Holly Hunter/movie story. Before the concert began two guys went up to Beau while he was on stage and requested Momma Momma and Beau said OK. Well we know how Beau had transformed Momma Momma into what Melanie called "A LA Doc" (Doc Watson). Well Beau transforms Momma Momma again by playing the BANJO!! WOW WOW. It was unreal!! The banjo itself was beautiful, looked brand new, gleaming, an orange color. Melanie says I am going to do a song that is a very old song. She said I myself felt like Ruby Tuesday. She tells us that Mick Jagger wore a giant button that said something like "Listen to Melanie's version of Ruby Tuesday any time". She said the button is huge and looked even bigger on Mick Jagger because the British people are so skinny. She wonders if he still has that button. Then she said she added a twist to Ruby Tuesday and that twist is Beau. Then Beau begins singing and Melanie joins him. Their chemistry and warmth toward each other shine through. We have a short intermission. They sing more songs and then it is request time. A lot of people are yelling out and I yell out Hush A Bye and hear someone else yell it out too. She talks about the book On the Beach and I remembered reading that book in high school and how scary it was.
