I'll be in Chicago IL from Sept. 22 - 25 and was wondering if I should stay on an extra day and go south to see Melanie - but I hear it's a 5 hour drive from Chicago - is there a train service does anyone know which could get me there sooner? - then I have to get my flight afterwards to Miami - I guess this might be stretching it a bit but I would love the chance to see her again .... anyone here going to see her here - will this be a very different type of concert I wonder ... Lez

I don't much about the train situation in Illinois, Maybe someone who lives there can answer. As far as your other questions...Well, it will different from the standpoint that she has been singing a lot of different songs and I would expect that she would continue to do so...Love Doesn't Have to Hurt, You're Gonna Miss Me, The Saddest Thing, possibly Hi Neighbor(Hello Hello) The fact that it's in a small chapel venue should make it very special too. Would you drive back to Chicago for your flight or would you try to go out of St. Louis which isn't too far away? (less than an hour) I am not a good person to ask these questions to because I have traveled lots of distances to see Melanie perform and it's always worth it, LOL....

I am from St. Louis but no longer live there. As far as trains coming in from Chicago I don't know of any but I moved away about a year and a half ago.You may have to fly in to Lambert Airport in St Louis and drive to Mascoutah from there.
You may really regret this if you don't do it! I know this will be an AWESOME Show! It would probably be best to talk to someone at the Espenchied Chapel.

Lezpye, go to www.Amtrak.com for train schedules. I really doubt it will get you here faster than the 5-hour drive, though. Flying between Chicago and St. Louis is quick and cheap, though, so you might prefer that. Hope to see you there!

MJ, that article is great. I don't subscribe to the Belleville News-Democrat (although they occasionally throw one in my driveway) so I wouldn't have seen it if you hadn't posted it here. Very nice!

Wow! What a great interview! Informative, funny, introspective, respectful, eager. It was intriguing hearing Melanie talk about how she ended up performing at Woodstock, how her last name got dropped as a performer but not as a writer, and finding out that she may soon be presenting a new Broadway musical! I'll be listening to this interview several times more.
