Hooray hooray, I am the first one. I am sure Anja is going to give us a great report, as it was wonderful to see her.

By the end of the evening Melanie had everyone standing and singing:
Lokah Samasta Sukhino Bavantu
it was awesome!!!!

And Lauren, today she sang Falling Awake, with the beautiful line:

and the ghost tap on my window....

But I can't wait to read Anja's review...

What a night! Again so amazing. How she can touch me with her being, her voice and her words. I had shivers down my spine so many times tonight.

I got to Naalwijk very early. I took my chance and set down on a terrace where the sun kept on shining till late. I had something to eat and just watched people doing their thing. I sat there dreaming of the night to come. Funny thing is, that it came to me, Melanie would probably do ?Jammin? alone?, having her talk about her being a nut magnet. That happens to me very often as well. So it did again tonight. I sat there at the table and a man comes up to me and asked if this chair was free. I said: ?Yes, take it?. He didn?t. He just sat down and started to tell his life in a ?nut?shell. He kept on talking. There wasn?t any time to answer. I let him and just ?smiled?. He left thanking me for the conversation, which in fact was just his own. This was so funny I just had to tell you all.

Then I waited in front of the theatre. Just to be sure I wouldn?t miss anyone I know. I saw no-one familiar so I went in.
After a while I saw Brian come in. So great to see him again. He came all the way from England again. The striking thing is that every time he is there, chance is with us (or something else). We always have a seat next to eachother. So it happened again tonight. We were in the 3rd row.

Dimming lights and there is Beau, being his shy and funny self.
1. He starts playing immediately. ?Intro?. A cell phone rang and he laughs.
2. Second was Bravo Dude.
3. Then he picks up his banjo and plays Gipsy banjo.
4. Then he played ?Dark Dixie?. I loved that one.
5. ?Fantasia Malaguena was next. He added: ?it?s hardly Malaguena any more?. He put his guitar behind his back again, pointing out that we shouldn?t try this at home.
Beau you were as magnificent as ever!
That there was an intermission. I already knew it would be like that ?cause I read it here in the review of Oostburg. But the audience didn?t know what was happening. An intermission after 20 minutes? It would have been great if anyone had mentioned this on stage, so they would understand. For me of course it made no difference. During the intermission I explained to several people and waited for the next part.

Part two:
Coincidence or not? On my other side in the seat next to me was Mike, also from England. Dia, you gave him directions to the theatre in the topic ?Holland tour?. He understood immediately what I was doing with my pen and paper. I told him he will see the results of this tomorrow.
There they are!
Melanie tells us she wrote the first song some 100 years ago. She thought it amazing she was so wise at that age already.
1. ?Perceive it?.
2. Then some 4 years later (ha-ha) she wrote the next one ?Rock & Roll heart?
3. And there it is: ?Jammin? alone?, complete with her ?nut magnet? story. Of course I could only smile again.
4. She asked us what we wanted to hear. ?What do you want from me?? Her ever so funny ?Gilbert B?caud? story introduced ?Tuning my guitar?, which she wrote after 40 days and nights of Paris.
5. Since a lot of people asked for it, she sang ?Beautiful people?.
It doesn?t matter how many times I hear it, this song still gets to me.
6. ?Falling awake?. What a song. And Dia you are so right about that line: ?and the ghost tap on my window?. I heard it before, but still? I just love this song and the way she puts her emotions in it. Shivers! Tears!
7. ?Rainbow race?. Another of those moving songs. Beautiful.
8. Then it?s teaching time. ?Smile?. We have to learn: ?I love people who smile?, so we can do it with her at the end of the song. And we do. The audience is really enthusiastic. We keep on doing that for a while feeling ?Close to it all?
9. ?Brandnew key?. I talked to a lot of people and most of them didn?t see Melanie since the 70?s. They were waiting for these ?oldies?.
10. ?Look what they done to my song?. Everybody is singing with her as loud as they can.
11. Beau is doing the introduction to ?Ruby Tuesday?. Melanie tells him not to show off like that. Now the audience is quiet. This duet remains stunning.
12. Melanie and Beau bow and leave the stage. Of course we all don?t agree and clap, whistle etc. Of course they come back and Melanie introduces ?Extraordinary?. A song from her latest album. I was waiting for this song as usual. I love it and my memories went back to Haarlem, where we were on stage with her. Audrey my thoughts were with you.
13. They received some flowers and Beau threw it into the public. They left the stage again, but we still didn?t get enough, so we kept on yelling Melanie, whistling and clapping. It worked again! They came back. Melanie wants us to sing with her in Sanskrit: Lokah Samasta Sukhino Bavantu. So we all join her in ?Motherhood of love?. We don?t get enough of this and Melanie goes on as well. She finally goes off stage remembering us to ?SMILE?.

Then it?s over. We all waited for Melanie and Beau to come out in the hall for a signing session. I already have all the CD?s they were selling, so I bought the picture. I needed something to remind me of this evening. And of course I wanted her signature again. It was great to see you again Dia. It?s been too long. Sylvie where were you? I don?t know you, so no way I could find you. I would have loved to meet you.
So many people wanted a signature and take pictures. It was a long wait but worth my while. She signed the picture and put on it the word ?Smile?. How appropriate. She even started to sing it again at the table.
I asked Melanie about her Birthday CD. What she thought of it. Than she remembered my name as being on there. She loved the original gift. Some time later Beau appeared as well. Great to meet him again. I complemented him on his long beautiful hair. Also I asked him when he will be releasing a new album. He?s working on it, but he can?t find the time between his sisters and his mother to finish it. Still waiting?
I talked to Mike about how funny it is, we don?t want this night to be over. We go to the door to leave and then come back again as if we don?t want to loose the feeling of this togetherness.
But we have to go anyway.

I?d like to join the lyrics of the song I wrote for Melanie?s birthday CD.
I felt this all over again tonight. I think it is time to share it with you all.

The lady who sings my life.

For every event you?ve got a song
you talk of love for human kind
or if I?m right or when I?m wrong
Whatever I need I?m sure to find
Your words tell me I?m strong

My feelings don?t seem to want to come out
Stay hidden deep in my heart
Wish I could tell you without any doubt,
I?m at a loss for words so smart
Your voice just sings them out loud

Here you are again, this lady who sings my life
like nobody else can ever do
your voice of love always gets me through
I love you for who you are, I love you for who you are.

So when again I?m feeling down
your song can relieve my pain
your funny words take away my frown,
you?ll hear my laughter again
You?re a jewel in your own crown

Thank you Anja, for your beautiful review!

And congratulations with your beautiful song you've wrote for Melanie.

I wish I could have been there...
But yesterday I went back to work (after being home for almost 2 months, with a knee injury) and my knee didn't feel well to drive the whole end to Naaldwijk.
I was very, very sad, but now I'll rest, so I can make it to go on saterday in Leopoldsburg!!!

Hi Sylvie,

What a shame. I hope my review made you feel as if you were there. I can do that for you at least. I will not be there saturday, but the 20th in Rijssen I will be there with my husband.
Your pictures of Oostburg were fabulous. My camera isn't that great anymore and the lighting wasn't good for pics.
But still I have 2 to offer.

Sylvie,

Extraordinary is much better than on CD. As every song is BTW
She shares her emotions with us. That makes it different.

I put in the signed picture as well now. I scanned it.

Thank you Anja....

You make me cry..... That is so sweet, so beautiful that you thought of me... You are a special lady...

Hopefully I will be in Rijssen too. Maybe...
This week I will ask my obstetrician what she thinks about me going to Melanie while I am 30 weeks pregnant. One thing I do know is that I cannot stand the hole evening. I can hardly stand now... But I really really want to see you all, Anja, Dia and the ones who be there. And if I go I am taking my 2 Melanie friends from Winterswijk with me. THey will go with or without me. But they want me with them.... so who knows.....

Thanks again Anja
love Audrey
